Brides to Be - What You Need to Know!

Wondeful Weddings UK

Once you have chosen your wedding date and also the time of your marriage, the first thing my  husband to be and I did was to open a bank account (one with with interest is a good idea).

Then decide how much you are going to save each month - ideally it should be the same amount.
Have a set figure on what you want to spend on your wedding and do research on the internet or even phone a business if you are interested in their services to see what you get.
Ask for info to be emailed to you - you can always open a email account with Hotmail especially for your wedding correspondence.

Next decide where you wish to be married - a church,  a wedding venue (you will need a wedding celebrant - the venue may be able to help you with this).
Venues are obviously ideally looked at before you book. Do check what menus they offer - for instance do any of your guests require special diets - but most of all you both agree that you both like the menu choice and also importantly what are the costs - after all it is your wedding!

Do you want a sit down hot meal or a help your self service buffet with canapes, will more guests be coming in the evening and require food (usually a cold buffet) and what else do they offer - of course a bar is a must, but also tea or coffee.
Is there a comfy area your guests can wait in, if they arrive a bit early? Also easy access for people in wheelchairs.
When we booked my daughter's wedding, the hotel we booked with, threw in flowers for the tables AND a free stay on the wedding night in the bridal suite (which included breakfast)! You can always ask what deals they can do for you.

Another thing to consider about a choosing avenue, is how easy is it to get to it, for not only you and your betrothed but for your guests.
If it is not too far from their home or where they are staying, they can get a taxi but some wedding couples do lay on coaches or hire a bus - another money item to consider.
Will either of your parents be helping out? If so, will they be giving an amount of money or be paying for the photographer? It's nice to know what to tick off your wedding list.

Ideally don't be like my husband and myself and save for the wedding and buy a house at the same time - very stressful I can tell you.

So from my experience ENJOY!

Another time I will tell you tips to save money.

So huge congratulations you are engaged, so now where to begin to start towards the happiest day of your life - to when you get married to your beloved.

Firstly decide on the price you can afford - will you and your partner being paying for the whole wedding or will either of both of parents be contributing to the wedding.
A good idea is to sit down with your beloved and make a list - you can always add to this list as you go along your journey to the "BIG DAY" - or even delete things you may not need.
Also a mood board is a good idea - gives you colour ideas and styles for wedding dresses and also your bridesmaids and pages boys. Pinterest is agood place to look for ideas as well as bridal magazine.
Some websites also let you set up your own website showing the progress of your wedding journey, this can also act as good journal.

Here is an idea for a list:
  • Deciding on what number of guests to invite - for the main wedding - and also guests to come in the evening.
  • Locating suitable venues - do they supply catering or do you have to source your own caterers.
  • (With catering do check if any of  your guests require special dietary needs).
  • Locating your wedding dress - do you want to buy off the peg or have it made - this will apply to  your bridesmaids also as well as page boys.
  • Will the men and page boys be hiring suits or made to measure?
  • Deciding on entertainment - DJ - A Tribute Band or something else something to give the wedding party a really entertaining time.
  • Entertainment sites can be found on line - check their feedback. Also depending on the time of the year - rates can be cheaper.
  • With your suppliers you can always ask for a discount.
  • Deciding on your wedding decor colour scheme - decorations - colour scheme for the tables - will it be themed?
  • Flowers for your bouquet, bridesmaids plus button holes for your partner, bestman etc. and also for your wedding tables.Again the florist can make the flowers in the choice of your colour scheme.
  • Wedding photography - do you want your wedding videoed as well?
  • Who will set up decor on the day. Will you be hiring decor specialist - who again need to get into your venue ahead of your wedding feast to set the room and tables decor.
  • What time will the wedding breakfast be served at you venue or if having outside caterers - what time will they arrive - is there a kitchen on the premises - what  time can your caterers get in the premises. Will you be having a sit down meal or a buffet - the buffet can be hot or cold or a mixture of both. If having caterers, do make sure their premises have the top hygiene score 5 and they have public liability insurance. They may also do a taster for you, a fee may be charged for this - if you book with them ask for the tasting food to be deducted from their caterering fee.
  • Make a schedule of the day. Maybe a member of your family can keep an eye of this.
  • How you get to your choice of marriage venue - taxis, pony and trap etc.
  • Budget your management - you may have to decide if something/things are a bit beyond your costings. Maybe oen a specila "wedding accoun" to put funds for your wedding in it.
  • Do make sure you your suppliers are paid on time, many may require a deposit.
  • Choose your invitations designs and sending them also you will require evening invites. Both will require a RSVP card so enclose prepaid envelopes in your wedding       invitations. Usually invites are part of your colour scheme of your wedding.
  • Managing the guest list and RSVPs.
  • Producing table plans according to your wishes and passing name places to the venue. A good idea is to have an easel with details of where guests will be sitting.
  • Make sure your seating plan mixes both families together.
  • Finalising schedule for the wedding party and suppliers.
  • Creating a supplier list with all contacts.
  • Whilst this all going on you and yur partner must decide on what you will be wearing and what your colours will be.
